I`m excited to bring up a very interesting subject ” Eat For Your Chakras.”

You`ve probably heard the word “chakra” before, you may know or not what does chakra mean.

The translation for chakra from Sanskrit ( the language of Hinduism) CHAKRA means WHEEL of energy.

“Chakras” or “wheels of energy”  are located along our spinal column: starts from the base of our spine all the way up to the crown of our head. They co respond our physical center and also to different emotions, various part of consciousness which exist in our being.

Different chakras help to stimulate various energy centers in our body. Blocked energy in our chakras can lead to physical or mental illness. Unblocking these chakras will help us to clear up our energy and enjoy a healthy and vital life.

There are main seven chakras= seven main energy wheels centers in our body. There are several ways how we clear up these chakras as Reiki (alternative Japanese medicine), yoga asanas, nutrition and more.

Let`s see how dietary method can support, fire up, and enhance one and every chakra so we can feel more energetic, alive, and more vibrant every single day.

First Chakra  – Root Chakra – “Muladara”
Location:  The base of our spine (tail bone)
Color: Red
Element: Earth
Relates to the: Sense of security in the world, sense of belonging, financial security, the feeling of being grounded, and protected.
Unblock chakra: To feel more safe, more secure, grounded, and abundant.
Food that supports the energy of this chakra:

  • All RED food: Red apples, cherries, tomatoes, beets, watermelon, strawberries, basically any type of red food is an excellent way to bring that vibration which resonates with that energy center.
  • As this chakra resonate also with the element of earth so any type of “Earth” food that grown in the earth also great to support this chakra (potatoes, squash, sweet potato, etc..)
  • High protein food: seeds, nuts, lentils, etc..

Second Chakra – Sacral Chakra – “Svadhishthana”
Location: Pelvic area, sexual organs
Color: Orange
Element: Water
Relates to: Our creativity, sexuality, sensuality, how we connect and relate to other people.
Unblock chakra: To be creative, to be free, to be dynamic, and flowing.
Food that supports the energy of this chakra: 

  • All ORANGE food: oranges, sweet potato, carrots, papaya, mango, peaches, etc.
  • “Watery” food: It is essential that we have enough water in our systems in general. Fresh water, water with lemon, coconut water, these all great ways to hydrate to support the energy of this element chakra.

Third Chakra – Solar Plexus Chakra – “Manipura”
Location: Between the navel and solar plexus, mid abdomen
Color: Yellow
Element: Fire
Relates to: Our fire center, our digestion. This chakra allows us to feel comfortable in own skin, value ourselves, and to follow our dreams. If we hold on this energy, it can manifest into too much anger, bitterness and excess stress and create digestive issues.
Unblock chakra: Feel comfortable in own skin, value ourselves, and to follow our dreams.
Food that supports the energy of this chakra: 

  • All Yellow food: Pineapple, yellow apples, spaghetti squash, yellow squash, yellow mango, bananas, etc..
  • Also, any foods that help to support and fire up our digestion like ginger, turmeric, garlic, etc..

Fifth Chakra – Hearth Chakra – “Anahata”
Location: Center of our chest at the heart level
Color:  Green
Element:  Air
Relates to: Love, unconditional love, caring, oneness, acceptance.
Food that supports the energy of this chakra: 

  • All GREEN food: All green vegetables and fruits (apples, kiwi, grapes, etc.)
  • Leafy greens: kale, spinach, chard, parsley, different herbs, dill, basil, etc..

Fifth Chakra- Throat Chakra – “Vishuddha”
Location: Around the throat
Color: Blue, like crystal clear blue sky
Element:  Combine earth and water
Relates to:  Good and clear communication, being truthful and standing for what you are believing, and be in touch with your authentic voice.
Food that supports the energy of this chakra: 

  • All BLUE  and juicy foods like blueberries, oranges, apples, etc.
  • Moreover, liquids play a huge role in healing and enhancing our throat chakra like soups, stews, refreshing juices, water (fresh, lemon, coconut, etc.)

Sixth Chakra- Third Eye Chakra -“Ajna”
Location: In the middle of our forehead
Color: Indigo
Element: None
Relates to:  This chakra is all about opening our third eye, being open to wisdom, this is the center of our intuition and guidance. Ajna chakra is the higher perception of what our two physical eyes can`t see.
Food that supports the energy of this chakra: 

  • Dark PURPULISH color foods like purple kale, blackberries, egg plant, etc.

Seventh Chakra –  Crown Chakra – “Sahasrara”  also known as – petaled lotus flower
Location: Top of the head or slightly above the head
Color: Violet
Element: None
Relates to: Something bigger, overall vitality energy, hormones functioning. This chakra makes us realize that we are just more than the just physical body, more than flesh and blood, that there is something greater of the unknown.
Food that supports the energy of this chakra: 

  • The best way to eat for this chakra is 80/20:  The energy of this chakra is what supports all the systems in our body, our nervous system, our endocrine glands, our immunity system, etc..
  • 80% alkaline forming foods: vibrant, healthy, plant based foods, lots of whole foods.
  • 20% can be all the rest.
